MAURICIO SVANSTROM
Producer / Music Curator / Creative
Mauricio was born in Mexico City during the swinging sixties. Son of a Mexican dancer and a Swedish Jazz lover, Mauricio had many musical influences during his childhood from Mingus to Jobim, from Getz to Regina, the Rat Pack favorites, and the sound of the Doors and Zeppelin. Mauricio had an eclectic music education. His ears were filled with many different rhythms. At parties and family reunions he was always "in charge" of the "Hi-Fi". There he was in front of the turntable watching the long-play albums spin at 33rpm. What a good kid!
When Mauricio grew up he wanted to combine graphics, poetry, photos (advertising), and travel the world. This goal took him to great cities (Stockholm, Lisbon, Barcelona, and London) where he was a respected Creative Director.
Mauricio was early on seduced by the magic of the radio, the atmosphere that radio could create and the music that could and would be featured. Radio production and music became great passions which he started to explore "from scratch" during the late eighties. He had great mentors and guides, such as Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu (The creator of Amores Perros, 21 Grams, Babel and other films) and Martin Hernandez (sound designer for 21 Grams, The City of God). Those influences inspired Mauricio to develop conceptual entertainment radio shows.
Maurice has produced/created radio concepts in Mexico, Montreal, Barcelona and Ibiza. In 2005 he developed a special project for the CBC titled "La Suite Royale". He has worked as a Music Supervisor (Manga Latina, Piñatas, Monica made in America), Producer, and also in several ads (that he developed/supervised) during his long advertising career. His radio shows are now listened to in Canada, The United States, Italy, Germany, Spain, Greece, Switzerland, Russia, Mexico and many other locations around the world. |
