Surprising, fresh, neat. That would be the first three words to describe the project called The Now Sound of Mexico. A careful selection made by The Lounge King (The Lounge King Show: Mix 96 FM in Montreal, Luxuriamusic.com in the USA and Ibero909radio, Mexico City), who traveled to Mexico to meet this great new generation of Mexican artists.

When I heard the samples, I was captivated by the freshness, the humour and a the unique sound-hard to find this days-of those great young musicians,” said the Lounge King.

Mexico has a history full of colour, music and magic. It is usually associated with mariachis, sombreros, cactus and tequila. But, a new generation of innovative artists, however, is changing that. A good example is the project called discos KONFORT (from where most of these songs come), which began few years ago as a non-profit musical exchange and sound workshop between its creators. It ranged from the experimental and unconventional to the chill, ambient and mood-driven-with its own Mexican seal.

The album features artists from different regions of Mexico, such as Mexico City, Ciudad Juarez, Texcoco, Ensenada and Tijuana, where they were able to mix the new musical disciplines with the richness, humour, urban culture and history of that country. THE NOW SOUND OF MEXICO is a perfect example of the creative energy NOW coming from Mexico, is a New Sound from this one-of-a-kind country. Definitely a limited-edition collectable. Viva Mexico!
